Police have arrested 26 people in three weeks in raids across York after acting on tip offs.

Since the crime purge began three people have been arrested following warrants executed under the Theft Act.

Police said 14 other arrests had been made for offences such as robbery, possession of drugs, theft, burglary and recall to prison.

Four people have been arrested after warrants were issued for failure to appear at court.

The force said five people were arrested in raids for a variety of offences.

Drugs, two suspected stolen motorbikes, a pedal cycle and a cattle prod were among the items recovered during the operation.
