Man seriously hurt in Scarborough pub attack

A man has suffered head injuries in an attack at a Scarborough pub.

The 35-year-old was found unconscious in the men's toilets at The Nelson Inn on Victoria Road at about 2000 BST on Sunday, police said.

He was treated by paramedics before being taken to Scarborough Hospital, where he is said to be in a serious but stable condition.

A 34-year-old man from Scarborough was arrested three hours later in the Seamer area.

He was questioned and released on bail while inquiries continue.

Witnesses have been urged to contact police.
