Appeal over fatal crash witness in North Yorkshire

Police are appealing for the driver of a camper van to come forward who they believe may have witnessed a fatal crash on the A684 in North Yorkshire.

A Darlington man, aged 34, died after his motorcycle was involved in a head-on collision with a 4x4 vehicle between Swinithwaite and Aysgarth on Friday.

Two men from Darlington, aged 34 and 55, arrested in connection with the incident have been released on bail.

Police said a driver of a camper van may hold vital information.

Traffic Constable Graham Waller, of the force's Roads Policing Group, said: "I am particularly interested in speaking with the driver of a camper-type van that was in the area at the time of the collision.

"They may be unaware that a collision has taken place and may have vital information that could help the investigation."

The man who died in the collision was riding a red Kawasaki ZR 750 motorcycle and was travelling as part of a group.

The A684 was closed for eight hours following the collision at about 1810 BST.
