York council is asking businesses in the city to back its plans to overhaul park and ride facilities.

The authority wants to replace the existing Askham Bar park and ride site with a larger facility and create two new sites near the A59.

The council is in talks with the government over the scheme and is contacting companies to ask for their support.

It is believed the scheme would boost York's economy and tourism.
