Antiques worth more than £20,000 have been stolen from a van at a compound in Harrogate.

The van was stored at a vehicle rental company on The Grove when it was broken into between 23 and 24 November.

The items stolen included a pair of Canton elephant joss stick holders, two Tole candlesticks and vases.

North Yorkshire Police said the antiques were "extremely valuable" and have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch.

Pc Janine Walker said: "I need to speak to anyone who saw suspicious activity at the time of the theft or may have been offered any of these very distinctive items since they were stolen."
