Diesel worth £18,000 stolen from Total petrol station

Thieves have siphoned off nearly £18,000 worth of diesel from a petrol station in North Yorkshire.

More than 13,000 litres of diesel were taken from the Total filling station on the A64 near Steeton.

Officers said the fuel, which was stolen from about 0230 GMT on Wednesday, would have taken the offenders some two hours to collect.

Police believe the "organised" thieves would have used a tanker or large van with storage to transport the fuel.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police.
