York teenager, 14, charged over railway line 'planking'

A boy has been charged with trespass on a York railway line after a picture emerged allegedly showing someone taking part in a "planking" incident.

The 14-year-old was arrested and charged after a picture was posted on Facebook showing someone apparently lying across railway tracks.

The photo showed the person with their head on one rail and feet on another.

"Planking" involves people lying face down in an unusual public place, which they then publish online.

The person in the photograph usually lies expressionless with their arms by their sides.

A spokeswoman for British Transport Police said a 14-year-old boy was due to appear before York's Youth Court on 5 July.
