York hammer attack man making recovery from his injuries

A 45-year-old man attacked with a hammer in York has made "progress in the recovery from his injuries," according to police.

Stephen Eastwood was left in a coma after the attack on 27 March.

North Yorkshire Police said he had been taken off his ventilator but remained "seriously ill" in York District Hospital.

A 25-year-old woman who was arrested in connection with the incident remains on police bail.

Police said Mr Eastwood's next of kin had been traced following an earlier appeal.
