Polls for North Yorkshire council elections close

Polls have closed in the Harrogate and Craven areas of North Yorkshire for the 2012 local council elections.

Candidates are standing in 16 rural wards in the Harrogate Borough Council, which is currently a Conservative administration.

Twelve wards are being contested at Craven District Council, which is also currently held by Conservatives.

Polls in both areas closed at 22:00 BST. Counting is due to start in Harrogate on Friday morning.
