Douglas Robertson death crash in Stokesley: Fifth man bailed

A fifth person arrested after a road accident in which a pedestrian was killed has been released on bail.

Douglas Robertson, 27, died after being hit by a Range Rover as he walked along North Road, Stokesley, on Saturday.

Police said the man, 20, from the Stockton-on-Tees area, was arrested on Wednesday and released pending further inquiries.

A 15-year-old boy charged with causing death by dangerous driving has been remanded in custody by magistrates.

The boy, who cannot be named, has also been charged with aggravated vehicle taking and other motoring offences.

He will appear in court again on 1 February.

Delton O'Neill, 18, of Sowerby Crescent, Stokesley, also appeared at Northallerton Magistrates' Court charged with aggravated vehicle taking and was given conditional bail.

Meanwhile, a 48-year-old man from Brompton on Swale, Richmondshire, has been charged with obstructing the police investigation and is due to appear at the same court on 8 February.

A 23-year-old man from Durham, arrested on Monday, has also been released on conditional bail.
