Man dies following lorry collision on A64, Sherburn

A 25-year-old man has died after being hit by a lorry while walking along a main road in North Yorkshire.

North Yorkshire Police said a white and blue DAF lorry struck the man on the A64 in Sherburn near Scarborough, at around 19:45 BST on Friday.

He was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary with serious injuries but died several hours later.

Police said the driver of the lorry stopped at the scene but was not arrested.

The family of the dead man, who lived nearby, have been informed.

The A64 was closed in both directions for several hours while police conducted their investigations.
