Man charged with murder over Richmond assault

A man has been charged with murder following an assault in a North Yorkshire town.

Andrew Jackson, 43, died after he was attacked near the Georgian Theatre in Victoria Road, Richmond, at about 23:15 BST on 25 April.

He received serious head injuries and died at James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough on 27 April.

A 24-year-old local man is due to appear before magistrates in Northallerton later.

Police said a 38-year-old woman, who was also arrested in connection with the assault, remains on police bail.
