Student Ethan Peters river death ruled accidental
The father of a student who drowned described his son's death as a "tragic loss of a really good life".
Christopher Peters, from Hounslow, west London, spoke after a coroner returned a conclusion of accidental death on his 20-year-old son Ethan Peters.
The University of York student was last seen on Coney Street on 2 October.
His body was recovered from the River Foss a week later but the inquest heard it was impossible to explain how he ended up in the river.
The hearing was previously told how Mr Peters had been with friends on a night out in the city centre and was said to be in good spirits before walking off alone.
Speaking briefly after the inquest his father said the mystery of how Ethan fell into the river would be something which would "haunt" his family.
