Kilrea go-kart death track stays open

The fiancee of a Limavady man killed at a go-kart track has expressed surprise it is still being used while a health and safety investigation takes place.

The investigation is under way after 28-year-old Kieran McDonald died when his cart left the track at Go Prokart in Kilrea two weeks ago.

Linda Mullan said she was concerned the track continued to be used.

In a statement, the company said it was shocked at the tragic accident and took safety extremely seriously.

Ms Mullan said her fiancee had left the track and hit a 4x4 vehicle parked near it, suffering fatal head injuries.

"I don't think it should be open, at least until the investigation's over with.

"It could happen to anybody," she said.
