Man faces attempted murder charge

A 25-year-old man is due in court in Bangor on Wednesday charged with attempted murder.

He is also accused of possession of an offensive weapon, causing actual bodily harm and aggravated assault.

The charges relate to an assault on a man in his thirties in the New Meadow Row area of Castlewellan on Monday.

He was treated in hospital for knife wounds to his chin and arm. Another man and a woman were also attacked, but did not suffer serious injuries.
