Child 'critical' after road accident near Rathfriland

A three-year-old boy is in a critical condition in hospital after a road accident involving a car in County Down.

It happened at Monteith Road in Annaclone, outside Rathfriland at about 1500 BST on Sunday.

The boy has been transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital after first being treated at Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry.

The collision is not being treated as a hit-and-run incident.
