Ormeau Road riot suspect 'released hours earlier'

A man accused of throwing petrol bombs during Twelfth of July rioting had been released on police bail hours earlier, a court has heard.

Gary Kelly, 20, of Lavinia Mews, south Belfast, faces charges of making, possessing and throwing petrol bombs in the Ormeau Road area.

A constable said he was accused of attempting to damage a police vehicle a day earlier.

Mr Kelly was remanded in custody to appear in court again next month.

Belfast Magistrates Court was told he faced separate charges of disorderly behaviour and attempted criminal damage to the window of a police vehicle in the Cromwell Road area of south Belfast on 11 July.
