Belfast City Council has successfully prosecuted one man for selling whistles outside a city pop concert and another for smoking in a work van.

James O'Reilly from Palmerston Place in Dublin was given an 18-month conditional discharge after trading outside a Fatboy Slim concert in May.

Seamus Donaghy from Cloghog Road in Dungannon was seen smoking at York Road last November.

He was also given an absolute discharge.

An absolute discharge is technically a conviction but is the mildest possible rebuke a court can issue.

It is not recorded as a criminal offence.

Both men were ordered to pay costs of £66.
