Pakistani nationals arrested in Carrick kebab shop raid


Two men have been arrested after a raid on a kebab shop in Carrickfergus by the UK Borders Agency.

Staff at Woodburn Road premises were visited by officers on Thursday night.

Two Pakistani nationals were arrested, one on suspicion of being an illegal entrant and the other on suspicion of breaching visa conditions.

The shop has been issued with a penalty notice meaning it could be fined up to £20,000 unless owners show they carried out correct checks on their employees.

The two men who were arrested, who are aged 37 and 29, are now in detention while the UK Border Agency makes arrangements for their removal.

On Tuesday, two Nigerian men were arrested in south Belfast ovedr suspected immigration offences.
