The Ulster Unionist Party has co-opted a new councillor to replace Michael McGimpsey at Belfast City Hall.

Michelle Bostock, who lives in south Belfast, currently works for Mr McGimpsey in his Assembly constituency office.

The 33-year-old, who studied geography at Queen's University in Belfast, will represent the Laganbank ward.

Mr McGimpsey has left the council in order to focus on his duties as health minister.

Ms Bostock has been a member of the Ulster Unionists since the age of 16.

She currently works with a number of community groups in the south of the city, including the Donegal Pass Community Forum and the Taughmonagh Community Forum.

She lists her hobbies as reading, swimming, gardening, cooking, going to the theatre and current affairs.
