Girl thrown out of stolen vehicle

A cross-border search is under way for a gang who stole a 4x4 with a teenage girl on board in County Monaghan before throwing her out of the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle had stopped outside a farmhouse at Annyalla near Castleblayney leaving the girl inside.

A man then got out of a car parked nearby, got into the 4x4, started the ignition and told the girl to get out.

When she refused he drove for a short distance, before stopping and throwing her out onto the road.

Two men remained inside the other car used by the gang which was seen parked near where the 4x4 was stolen.

It drove ahead of the stolen vehicle during the incident.

Irish police contacted the PSNI following the hijack, after it was reported that the stolen vehicle was driven in the direction of the Keady in south Armagh.

It is understood a number of 4x4 vehicles were reported stolen in County Cavan last month which may also have been driven across the border.
