Man charged with £1,500 Belfast off-licence raid

A Belfast man accused of weapons offences and a £1,500 off-licence robbery has been remanded in custody.

Liam Mulhern, 26, of Priory Park, was charged over an alleged raid at premises on Blacks Road on 25 August.

He was charged with having a firearm with criminal intent and a handgun without a certificate. He was also charged with robbing the off-licence.

He faced separate charges of possessing counterfeit currency and driving without a licence or insurance.

A police constable told Belfast Magistrates' Court he could connect the suspect with all of the charges.

Mr Mulhern did not seek bail, but was taken down to the cells during the hearing after shouting abuse from the dock.

He was remanded in custody until next week, when an application for him to be released is due to be heard.
