Two men are still being questioned over the death of an 18-year-man who was injured in an incident in Dundalk.
The victim, named locally as Niall Dorr, suffered head injuries during a fight on Castle Street at about 2100 BST on Wednesday.
He died in hospital in Drogheda on Thursday night. Mr Dorr was with two friends when a row broke out with a group of up to seven others.
He was taken to hospital after he was assaulted in the altercation.
A post-mortem examination will take place in Louth County Hospital in Dundalk later.
The outcome of that will dictate the course of the police inquiry. However, it is thought likely that a murder investigation will be launched.
Two men, aged 21 and 23, remain in custody after being arrested on Thursday night.
