William Hay has told the assembly that MLAs must not challenge the authority of the Chair of the Speaker.

The assembly Speaker was referring to the conduct of some members in the chamber last week during a debate on double jobbing.

Mr Hay said that he was not against robust debate, but the conduct of a number of members fell far short of good standards.

He said that he would be dealing with the offenders in the strongest way.
