Grandparents charged with killing disabled girl

The grandparents of a severely disabled child who died in 2001 after she was attacked have been charged with her manslaughter.

David Johnson, 87, and his wife, Sarah, 83, deny harming Rebecca McKeown, 14, in any way.

A post-mortem examination revealed that she died from shock and extreme blood loss after she was sexually assaulted.

Legal proceedings began in Belfast on Wednesday. The couple were not present.
