Father warns of drugs after son's death

The father of a Limavady teenager who is believed to have died after taking drugs at a party has warned others not to follow his son's example.

Ryan McElwee, 17, from Edenmore Park was buried on Wednesday.

His father John Duffy said he always feared drugs would kill his son.

"I want all his friends who don't want their names to end up beside him, to look at this and say my close friend was lost to that lifestyle, and I'll find a better way."

Ryan was a former pupil at Limavady High School, its vice principal is Dougie Bartlett.

"He was a lovely wee fellow, immaculately turned out and had an awful lot of great qualities.

"But unfortunately, time after time, you couldn't make that all important connection with him that could've helped him out of the difficulties he was heading into."
