Arrests in Belfast and Preston over importation of guns

Two people have been arrested in west Belfast and one in Lancashire in an investigation into guns being brought into the UK.

A man and woman in their 20s were arrested after searches in Belfast's Beechmount and Andersonstown areas.

A man in his 50s was arrested in Preston. The searches were carried out by the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA).

A number of items were taken away for examination.

The operation was assisted by the PSNI and Lancashire Police. The searches in Preston were carried out in the Ashton and Ingol areas.
