Limavady charity 'now helping former donors'

A charity in Limavady has warned that the recession has left many former donors dependent on aid this Christmas.

Captain Joan Archibald from the Salvation Army said more people than last year are looking for help because of debt or fuel poverty.

"We have families who in the past would have been our donors, but who are now having to come and ask us for help.

"It must be very difficult for them because they were families who were used to a good standard of living."

"They are now struggling, maybe some of them are on the breadline, and it's very difficult for them to have to turn to charity," she said.
