Van, tools stolen in Londonderry

Equipment used to lay, find and repair gas pipes has been stolen in Londonderry.

The items taken include breathing apparatus systems, an electronic tracing system and a white and yellow works tent.

They were stolen from a yard on Bay Road in the city between 1700 and 1900 GMT on Saturday.

A pale blue Mercedes box van with the word Omega still visible under the paintwork was also taken.

The police said the equipment may have been taken across the border into the Republic of Ireland.

The thieves also took a trailer and a number of other tools.

The police want anyone with information regarding the incident, or the whereabouts of the van, trailer and equipment to contact them.
