The deputy mayor of Castlereagh has left the Ulster Unionist Party to join the DUP.
Councillor David Drysdale was elected as a UUP councillor in 2001 representing Castlereagh East.
Mr Drysdale said he had concerns about the Ulster Unionist party's policies.
"I got involved in politics to help people and make the area I represent a better place. I now believe that the UUP hasn't the strategy to deliver such a change," he said.
Earlier this month former Westminister candidate Harry Hamilton resigned from the Ulster Unionists.
He was the third general election candidate to quit since Tom Elliott became party leader.
