Girl is charged over Newry street brawl

A 16-year-old girl is expected to appear in court on Monday to face a number of charges including assault, disorderly behaviour and grievous bodily harm.

The charges relate to an incident which occurred in Newry in the early hours of New Year's Day.

At about 0200 GMT on Saturday two men were walking along Water Street when one fell over.

Another man offered help, but the man refused and a fight began.

A number of people became involved and ambulances were called to attend to six injured people.

Three people were treated for slash wounds to their faces. The others received treatment for bruising and minor wounds.
