PSNI officer suspended over drugs allegations
A PSNI officer who won an appeal against a decision that he should resign or be fired after failing a drugs test has been suspended after being caught in possession of drugs.
Three other police officers resigned after tests detected they had used cocaine and cannabis, but were not prosecuted due to lack of evidence.
A fourth officer who also failed the tests was suspended after an internal hearing, but was later reinstated after winning an appeal.
That officer has now been suspended again over allegations that he was in possession of drugs, believed to be cannabis.
The PSNI has confirmed that an officer has been suspended, but will not comment on the reason.
In a statement, it said the officer is now the subject of a disciplinary and criminal investigation.
It is understood that a file is being prepared for the public prosecution service.
