A 19-year-old man has appeared at Londonderry Magistrates Court charged with murdering pizza delivery man Emmet Shiels in 2008.
Thaddeus McAllister, originally from Cable Street in the Bogside, is also charged with attempting to murder another man and possessing a handgun on the same date.
The defendant, who was arrested at his home in London yesterday, denies the charges and was released on bail.
He will appear in court again in March.
As part of his bail conditions Mr McAllister must have no contact with any member of the Shiels family nor with any witnesses in the case.
The district judge also ordered the defendant to report four times a week to the police in London.
The 19-year-old must also surrender his passport to the Metropolitan Police and not return to Derry unless approved by the court.
The court was told that Mr McAllister was arrested three times and interviewed on 24 occasions following Mr Shiels' murder.
Mr Shiels was shot dead in Creggan in June 2008 when he was involved in a confrontation with an armed gang.
Gary Meenan, 20, from Bishop Street, was jailed for eight years for Mr Shiels' manslaughter in November 2010.
Nadine Kelly, 20, from Celandine Court in Derry, was given a one-year suspended jail sentence, after she pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice by giving Meenan a false alibi.
