The DUP's David Simpson is to introduce a debate on child slavery in the House of Commons on Wednesday.

The Upper Bann MP wants to highlight the issues of forced marriage, sex trafficking of children and forced child labour.

He wants the government to "go the extra mile" when it comes to the worldwide protection of children.

The International Labour Organisation (ILO) estimates that 218m children worldwide are in child labour.

UNICEF estimates that 250 children were known to be trafficked into the UK over a five year period but claims that the real figure could be much higher.

It also claims that there are around 5,000 child sex workers active in the UK.
