Drugs, equipment stolen from ambulance in Magherafelt

Drugs and medical equipment were stolen from an ambulance in Magherafelt on Tuesday morning.

The prescription drugs, which police described as "potentially extremely harmful", were later recovered.

However, the ambulance was damaged and had to be withdrawn from service.

The theft was discovered at around 0500 BST at Magherafelt ambulance station in the Hospital Road area. Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

The ambulance had been on accident and emergency duty for the mid-Ulster area at the time of the theft.
