An off-duty PSNI officer who shot a man dead at an east Belfast petrol station in February will not be prosecuted, the Public Prosecution Service has said.

Mark Alexander Ringland, 29, was fatally wounded during an attempted robbery on the Albertbridge Road.

An investigation into the circumstances of the shooting has been carried out by the Police Ombudsman.

Mr Ringland, who was from the east Belfast area, had a long list of previous criminal convictions.
