Two controlled explosions have been carried out at a village monastery in County Antrim.

Army bomb disposal experts examined a suspicious package found in the car park at Our Lady of Bethlehem Abbey in Portglenone around lunchtime on Wednesday.

Two explosions were carried out at the scene and police declared the device a "hoax".

The abbey has now reopened.

The Cistercian monastery is home to around 20 members of the monastic order.
