Fermanagh hospital builders P Elliott in receivership

Receivers have been appointed to the parent company of one of the firms building a new acute hospital in County Fermanagh.

P Elliott, based in Cavan is understood to owe its banks more than £400m.

It is not yet clear what the impact will be on its Northern Ireland registered business.

Last month, the Western Health Trust said P Elliott's mounting problems would not affect the delivery of the hospital project.

The 315-bed facility is being built outside Enniskillen.

P Elliott's assets in Northern Ireland include the Windsor House office block on Bedford Street.

The firm also has a London registered business which was building some of the athletes accommodation in the London 2012 Olympic Village.

According to trade news service, Construction Enquirer, work on that site has stopped.

The Olympic Delivery Authority said it is trying to get work restarted as soon as possible.
