Three men have been arrested at the Alliance Party headquarters in south Belfast after republicans staged a protest in support of prisoners.

Members of Republican Network for Unity (RNU) went into the building on University Street on Thursday morning.

Protestors said justice minister and Alliance leader David Ford had reneged on a deal to end strip searches and controlled movement at Maghaberry jail.

They left the building after PSNI officers arrived.

Talks have recently been held between republican prisoners and the authorities at Maghaberry prison over the issue of strip searching.

Mr Ford said the police were dealing with the incident and that he had no further comment to make.
