Teenager travelled from Poleglass to Ardoyne for Twelfth riot

A teenager caught on CCTV rioting on the Twelfth in Belfast had travelled five miles to get involved in the trouble.

Belfast Magistrates Court heard on Friday that the youth from Poleglass had travelled to Ardoyne in north Belfast.

He is charged with riotous assembly and damaging a police vehicle.

The court was told the 16-year-old made a "full and frank admission" and had a "very very limited record".

The youth, who cannot be named because of his age, was identified on CCTV footage attacking police with a large stick and damaging a PSNI vehicle, according to the prosecution.

District Judge Amanda Henderson noted police objections to bail being granted due to loyalist parades taking place on Friday.

The teenager was detained to the Juvenile Justice Centre and is due to appear at a youth court on Wednesday.
