PSNI probe expenses of Catholic schools body employee

The body which represents Catholic secondary and primary schools has passed files to the police after concerns over internal governance.

It is understood they centre on expenses claimed by an employee.

The Council for Catholic Maintained Schools (CCMS) carried out an internal audit and then passed its concerns on to the North Eastern Education and Library Board's audit office.

The Department of Education and the NI Audit Office have also been informed.

In a statement the CCMS said: "The report highlighted some issues which may require further investigation.

"This matter has been handled in accordance with council policy."
