Stolen car crashes after police chase

A 17-year-old man has been arrested after a police car chase resulted in a stolen car crashing in east Belfast on Thursday morning.

The Ford Ka car was taken during a creeper burglary in Martinez Avenue, Ballyhackamore, between 20:30 and 22:00 GMT.

A second car was abandoned after it collided with another car.

Police chased the stolen car after it was spotted on the Upper Newtownards Road at 02:50GMT.

The driver was arrested after the vehicle struck the pavement in a supermarket car park before colliding with a tree.

He is not thought to have sustained any serious injuries.
