Man, 44, charged in connection with Strickland shooting

A 44-year-old man has been charged in connection with the shooting of Philip Strickland near Comber on Wednesday.

He is accused of assisting offenders and is due to appear in court on Monday.

Mr Strickland, 36, was found shot dead in a car on Quarry Road, off the Ballydrain Road.

Five men and a woman have been arrested so far. A man and a woman, both aged 19, were arrested on Thursday night.

Earlier, a 54-year old man and his two sons aged, 26 and 25, were arrested.

The shooting happened at about 21:00 GMT on Wednesday. Mr Strickland lived in east Belfast. He was found in the front of his car.
