Five injured in two-vehicle crash near Hilltown

Five people have been taken to hospital after an accident on the Newry Road near Hilltown in County Down.

The crash, involving two cars, happened at about 06:30 GMT on a section of the road known as Seven Sisters.

The injured were taken to Daisy Hill Hospital and three remain there in serious but stable conditions.

Two others were transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. One of them is described as critical but stable, while the other is stable.

The road has been now reopened.
