Man is charged after Royal Mail van hijack

A 24-year-old man has been charged with hijacking after a Royal Mail vehicle was taken at knife point in west Belfast.

The driver was forced from the van at Carrigart Avenue at about 10:50 GMT on Saturday.

The vehicle was driven towards Shaw's Road and Lenadoon Avenue where it crashed into the wall of a house.

The man also faces charges of driving whilst unfit, aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving.

It is not believed that anyone was injured during the incident.
