Man charged over hijack attempt in north Belfast

A 19-year-old man has been charged over an attempted hijacking in north Belfast on 12 January.

The man was arrested on Tuesday over the incident which took place at Hopewell Place. He is also charged with criminal damage, common assault and possession of an offensive weapon.

The teenager is due to appear in Belfast Magistrates' Court later.

The PSNI have established a dedicated task force to address recent car hijackings in the Belfast area.
