Derry man jailed for having pistol and rifle

A Londonderry man has been jailed for four years after admitting possessing guns and ammunition in County Wicklow.

Emmanuel Patrick Ryan, 53, from Rathmore Park in Creggan, pleaded guilty to possessing an assault rifle and a semi-automatic pistol.

He also admitted having 50 rounds of ammunition.

Ryan was sentenced to four years imprisonment on each of the three charges, to run concurrently.

He appeared at Wicklow Circuit Court. The offences were carried out on 12 May 2010.
