Bank clerk shot at home in Tallaght, County Dublin

Detectives are trying to establish a motive after a bank clerk was shot at his home in Tallaght, County Dublin, on Tuesday night.

The 32-year-old was shot in the legs when he answered his front door at Corbally Green at about 22:45 BST.

A gunman with a scarf around his face fired five shots from a handgun and hit the man three times in the legs.

The victim's partner and 10-year-old child were in the house at the time.

The man, who had been off sick from work, is not known to gardai and had no criminal convictions.

Detectives do not know why he was shot and are investigating whether it was a case of mistaken identity.
