Suspect device in Derry declared a hoax

A suspect device in Londonderry has been declared a hoax.

Police had been attending an incident at Lower Bennett Street following a report of a suspicious object.

The residents of 10 homes in the area were moved.

Army bomb experts carried out a controlled explosion and declared the object a hoax. The residents have now been allowed to return to their homes.

The Foyle Road had been closed at its junctions with Craigavon Bridge and Bishop Street Without. It has now reopened.
