A 22-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of west Belfast man John Mongan four years ago.

Mr Mongan was hacked to death in front of his pregnant wife and his seven-year-old daughter at their Fallswater Street home in February 2008.

Thomas Stokes from the Old Fort, Strathfoyle, in Londonderry, was refused bail on the grounds that he could interfere with witnesses.

Two other men are currently serving prison sentences for the killing.

Another man is on bail awaiting trial.
